Intensive Russian Assaults Cut Electricity Throughout Ukraine's Capital

Energy infrastructure targeted in Ukraine
Ukraine's power facilities have faced escalating attacks in the past few days

During the night, Russian aerial assaults have led to power cuts in extensive areas of the capital city, Kyiv.

Nine people were hurt while inhabitants in eastern neighborhoods were plunged into darkness and faced interruptions to water systems, per reports from city officials.

Simultaneously, a seven-year-old child was fatally injured in a different Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia region in the country's south-east, according to local officials.

Russian forces has intensified attacks on energy facilities over recent weeks, while the country's government has demanded "substantial measures" from allies to exert influence on Moscow.

"The necessity is not superficial actions but strong steps - from the America, Europe and the major economies - in delivering protection systems and applying sanctions," mentioned in a social media post.

He said that 450 drones and over thirty projectiles struck Ukraine's energy infrastructure, characterizing such strikes as "strategic and deliberate" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as the weather cools.

Government representatives said Russia was "conducting extensive attacks" and maintenance teams were working to fix the damage.

A wave of strikes hit power facilities and residential structures in Kyiv.

Five out of the nine people wounded in the attacks on the city have been hospitalized, as confirmed by local officials.

Area administrators said the city experienced intense attacks throughout the evening. A young boy was killed and three other people were injured.

The assaults come after evenings of air raids in the area, parts of which remain under the control of Moscow's military.

All of Ukraine is under warning for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are harder to identify.

National leaders told the media that Moscow was deliberately attempting to destroy the electrical infrastructure, with strikes already affecting fuel infrastructure.

Authorities confirmed utility staff and government agencies were bracing for more assaults.
