Why this Democratic Party Has Concealed their Post-Mortem Report on the 2024 Race: An Analysis.

The move from the DNC to block the publication regarding its internal autopsy report concerning the last presidential race is stunning but to be expected. Resistant to hard truths, the DNC behaves closer to a PR firm rather than an electoral entity focused on cultivating a volunteer base for winning elections.

A Culture of Conformity

Hesitant to break with the party establishment's culture of conformity, the DNC has stayed under the influence of the previous administration all through this past year. Making public the findings could have demonstrated that party leaders are interested to encourage open debate regarding the missteps that enabled Donald Trump to return to the White House. Instead, the leadership is moving forward under the pretense that there are no lessons to understand from the stunning loss of 2024.

"Here’s our North Star: does this help us win? Should the answer be negative, it becomes a sideline issue from what truly matters," an explanation reportedly given to justify concealing the report.

Critical Problems an Autopsy Could Have Addressed

Any valuable post-mortem with any value would confront certain uncomfortable matters. These include:

  • Voter Disenchantment: Failing to retain among a significant portion of the electorate who supported the Democratic ticket during the previous election was decisive in the narrowly decided recent race.
  • The Insistence to Seek Re-election: The stubborn decision by a party leader to stay in the race, and a last-minute exit, has been criticized as robbing Democratic voters the chance for a genuine choice.
  • Failing Core Democratic Voters: Amid inflation, the electoral effort allegedly bowing to powerful financial backers and not managing to address the role of profit-seeking.
  • A Foreign Policy Effect: The failure to shift a policy position regarding the situation in Gaza is cited as driving away key demographic groups, especially among youth voters, Arab-Americans, and Muslim Americans.
  • Losing Young Voter Support: Research indicates a significant drop-off of votes for the candidate from young voters.

A History Shunning Scrutiny

The decision to withhold aligns with a longstanding habit of evading hard truths. It echoes a situation in which virtually every Democratic officeholder in Congress supported a sitting president's determination to seeking another term until a catastrophic campaign event led to a change.

Concurrently, a significant majority of Democratic voters were consistently telling pollsters of their opposition to that candidate to seek re-election.

Financial Issues

An honest autopsy could examine questions regarding where money went, such as what sums flowed to insider consultants and media firms over the course of an electoral effort that burned through a colossal amount in a short period.

The Broader Problem

Fundamentally, the suppression surrounding this report is symptomatic of a submission to party leaders that oversaw a losing presidential campaign. The implication to the party's base – including countless loyal volunteers – is that they do not have a right to understand what the leadership say they discovered based on a report drawing from feedback from all states.

An organization unable to critically review where it went wrong is unlikely to break free from the rut that proved so helpful to their opponents.
